Die Casting Process Overview

Molten metal is injected under high pressure into steel dies to create near net shape components with a high degree of precision. Once cooled the dies are separated and the part is ejected. The excess metal in the sprue, runner, and flash is removed in a trim die. The trimmed sprue, runners, and flash can then be recycled and reused. Die casting excels at producing a high volume of parts at a low unit cost. A vast range of alloys can be cast.

  • Cost effective

Economical manufacturing process, especially for large volume production. Once the initial tooling and setup costs are covered, the per-unit cost is very economical.

  • High Efficiency

High speed production of complex shapes with tight tolerances.

  • Dimensional Accuracy

Produces thin-wall parts with excellent repeatability and tolerance control.

  • Surface Finish

Die casting parts have a smooth consistent surface attaining surface finishes between 32-63RMS.
